Florida Gators Softball sweep the USF Softball Classic
The Florida Gator softball Team dominated the USF Softball Classic in Tampa this past weekend. On Sunday, the final day of the classic, Florida took wins over Jacksonville University and USF. The Gators run ruled the Jacksonville Dolphins 9-0 by the fifth inning and overcame a two run deficit against USF in the seventh inning to beat the Bulls 10-5.
Florida is ranked number one and is now 5-0 on the season. Pitchers Delanie Gourley, Lauren Haeger and Aleshia Ocasio gave up no earned runs during the weekend. Haeger got her first win of the season and Ocasio took home two wins.
Outfielder Kristi Merritt ended the day with three home runs on Sunday while teammates Taylor Schwarz and Bailey Castro were also able to go yard Sunday.
Florida plays at Jacksonville Wednesday before returning home for a weekend tournament in Gainesville.
