The 12th ranked Florida Gator soccer team dominated Sunday afternoon in a 6-1 win over Florida International. It was a historic day as junior Savannah Jordan scored her 50th goal as a Gator. With their win today the Gators improved their season record to 7-2.
Florida scored a season high six goals in getting the win. This is also the third straight match Florida has scored at least four goals. The last time the Gators had three consecutive matches of four goals was back in 2001.
Brooke Sharp put the Gators on the board early scoring in the ninth minute off an assist from Jordan. Jordan scored her 50th career goal in the 30th minute when Christen Westphal sent a long ball into space for her to finish. Jordan is the second fastest to reach 50 goals as a Gator doing it in only 56 matches.
Freshman Sarah Troccoli would score her third goal of the season in the 34th minute off of a deflection. FIU got their only goal of the match when Alyssa Robinson found the back of the net late in the first half.
Brooke Sharp and Savannah Jordan would both score another goal in the second half and junior Liz Slattery added one of her own to give the Gators a demanding 6-1 lead. Brooke Sharp has scored six goals this season with all of them coming in the last five matches.
The Orange and Blue have two straight road conference matches up next as they head to Vandy this Friday and Auburn on Sunday.
