No. 15 Gators VB Heads to Knoxville Wednesday

The Florida Gators will head over to Knoxville on Wednesday for a matchup against University of Tennessee. Here is a preview:

Both teams are coming off a 1-1 series, and the game is expected to be at 7 p.m. in the Thompson-Boling Arena.

Florida Gator Volleyball Stats

So far this season the Florida Gators are 10-3 overall and 2-1 in SEC play. They are currently ranked No. 15 and have earned a total of 830 points this season.

During the last game against the South Carolina Gamecocks, the gators lost 3-2. Merritt Beason lead the team with 17 kills and five blocks.

Tennessee Vols Volleyball Stats

The University of Tennessee unranked and is 8-7 on the season, with 916.5 points.

The Vols’ last match was an SEC sweep over unranked the Texas A&M Aggies. Erykah Lovett led for the Vols with 18 kills and 10 digs.

Past Games and History

The last time these two teams met was Nov. 4 in Gainesville, where the Gators finished on top 3-1. T’ara Ceasar had a season record of 25 kills that game with a .352 clip for the Gators.

Since 1985 the Gators have won dozens of games against Tennessee, they have an advantage between their ranking and performance last season. Their longest win streak was 28 matches between 1991 and 2004, while their longest losing streak was only four matches between 1988 and 1990.

The first game that they played against each other was in 1985 and was a win for the Gators 3-0. Since that time, the Gators have gone 28-6 at home and 22-5 away against the Volunteers.

The Gators have won the last 10 matches with the Vols and look to extend their streak and maintain their No. 15 ranking. In the last 10 years, Florida is 9-1, with Tennessee only winning in 2018 in a sweep.
