Gators Football Lands 2024 Safety

The Gators landed their latest commit Monday in 2024 3-star safety Josiah Davis.

Davis is currently a junior at Berrien High School in Nashville, Georgia, and chose Florida over Tennessee and Kentucky.

Davis helped power Berrien to their first winning season since 1995.

Davis was a swiss army knife this season, as he rushed for 895 yards on 104 carries and 12 rushing touchdowns, while also throwing a touchdown pass and catching two.

On defense, he had 70 tackles and even logged a pick-six.

As a return man on special teams, he averaged 51 yards per return and took it all the way for a touchdown on seven different occasions.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Davis is also a track athlete who runs a 11.21 100-meter dash, which is speed that excites Gators secondary coach Corey Raymond.

“That’s one thing you want to look for, speed. You want to look for a guy that’s twitchy. You want to make sure [it’s] a guy that does multiple different things in high school, that runs track, that does a lot of different things.”

When asked about new Defensive Coordinator Austin Armstrong, Davis had nothing but positive things to say.

“Armstrong is great, and I love his coaching style. He’s going to keep it real with you.”

Davis now joins the Gators’ 2024 class with commitments from 5-star quarterback DJ Lagway and 4-star linebacker Myles Graham.
