Gators Fans on Social Media Blame Billy Napier for Texas A&M Loss

October 12, 2025

The cycle of love and hate continues with Florida and coach Billy Napier, and fans on social media are letting them know their frustrations.

The Gators’ 34-17 loss to No. 5 Texas A&M in College Station wasn’t frustrating because they were blown out but because the game was close enough to give fans hope, and a few coaching mistakes could have changed the tide of the game.

Immediately following a top-10 win against Texas last weekend, Napier was finally in the good graces of the fanbase. A seemingly revitalized offense was set to walk into Kyle Field but fell flat.

At 2–4, how confident are you that the Gators can still turn their season around?

“The Billy Napier Era at Florida has to come to an end. It’s the same mistakes, poor clock management, predictable play calling and lack of discipline in Year 4 that we saw in Year 1. This is an unacceptable product at the University of Florida with this level of talent,” wrote Jake Winderman of CBS Sports on X. The post has 1,100 comments and 932 likes.

Many posts mentioned his lack of production with one of the most talented rosters in the country.

“Billy Napier is wasting a team of… – DJ Lagway – Jadan Baugh – Eugene Wilson – VB3 – Dallas Wilson – Aidan Mizell – JMS. This team is 2-4,” said @gatorsszn on X. The post has 1,800 comments and 1,600 likes.

Florida’s poor record away from home in the four years with Napier as head coach was another buzzworthy topic on socials.

Talkwalker says the most engaging posts in the 24-hour period using keyword “DJ Lagway” are positive. With 1,400 posts in that time and a 28.8% negative sentiment, the most popular posts defend Lagway. One user on X was impressed with a deep throw Lagway made to Vernell Brown III.

Another major storyline surrounding Lagway was his homecoming. He grew up about 60 miles east of Kyle Field. Fans were excited to see Lagway play against his hometown team.

“DJ Lagway is revisiting his roots today in Texas. First the Longhorns and now The Aggies. Get the W!” said @GatorChompXX on X.

Lagway and the Gators, of course, were not able to get the “W.”
