Bolingbrook (IL) High Raiders inside linebacker Antonio Morrison made it official and just committed to Florida yesterday. After speaking with coaches on Tuesday, Morrison pulled the trigger and chose the Gators over a number of other offers including SEC programs Alabama and Tennessee.
For those Gator fans who follow the recruting services, Rivals lists him as an inside linebacker and a good one at that. The site gives Morrison four stars and believes he’s the nation’s no. 8 ILB. However, Scout lists the 6’3”, 220-pound Morrison as an outside linebacker, gives him only three stars, and believes he’s the nation’s no. 50 OLB. ESPN is in line with Scout, listing Morrison as the nation’s no. 39 OLB.
What Gator fans can know is they are getting a defensive player Coach Will Muschamp wanted and that so far seems to be good enough. Morrison becomes the 10th players of the 16 verbals added on the defensive side of the ball, as everyone knows, Will Muschamp is a defensive guy and in his eyes I am sure is putting together what he feels is the defense of the future.
Morrison is also the third linebacker to commit this year, all of which are four-star-rated players. The other two are Jeremi Powell (6-2, 200) out of Pinellas Park and Lorenzo Phillips (6-1, 200) of Patterson, Lou.
Morrison plans to early enroll at Florida in January
