Weis "Disappointed" Where UF Offense Is Now

September 21, 2011

Gator offensive coordinator Charlie Weis says he is a little “disappointed” about where the offense is right now.

While praising many things with the offense, he said he is not very happy with the turnovers the offense has made and he is not happy with third down conversions where Florida is 31 percent which he said makes him “miserable.” He mentioned seven penalties which he said “sign me up for not being happy about that too.”

However, Weis also said he was pleased with the play of his wide receivers even though there have not been a lot of passes and plays made downfield. He also said quarterback John Brantley has done “a nice job” and called him “the leader of the offense.” Weis also said he is pleased at how well Brantley goes through his reads and his progressions and that if nothing is there downfield, he checks down successfully to get the ball to Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps out of the backfield.

Florida will hopefully get the offense to go on all cylinders Saturday when it faces Kentucky in Lexington.
