No. 2 Gator Baseball Faces No. 17 Arkansas Friday Night

The second ranked Florida baseball team takes on seventeenth ranked Arkansas Friday night in the first of the three game series. The Gators are coming off a 10-1 mid-week victory over Bethune-Cookman improving their record to 32-10. The team looks to improve their 11-7 SEC record to move one game closer to Eastern division leader Kentucky who sits at 13-5.

While the Gators have won their last two SEC weekend series over Tennessee and Georgia, the Razorbacks have dropped their last two series to Kentucky and Ole Miss. However, Arkansas leads the overall series 24-23 after winning the last series and breaking the Gators five-series SEC win streak in 2011.

The Razorbacks will look to contain the Florida offense as senior Preston Tucker hopes to add to his eight game hitting streak, matching the longest of the season. During the streak, Tucker is averaging .324 at the plate. However, in his last 11 games against Arkansas, Tucker has been held to just a .200 average. If Arkansas is able to contain Tucker, the Gators may look to freshman Casey Turgeon, who went 3-4 with three stolen bases on Wednesday against Bethune-Cookman.

After this weekend’s series, Florida will travel to Kentucky for a three game series starting Friday, May 4. Coverage of tonight’s game begins at 7 p.m. on Country 103.7 the Gator.
