It is almost here…game week for the Gator football team.
Florida will practice today and begin preparations for its season opener a week from tomorrow at home against Bowling Green University.
Gator defensive coordinator Dan Quinn spoke of his defense on Thursday and said he is pleased overall with his group. He pointed out that there is more quality depth at every position with players still fighting to get either starting or backup spots in the two deep chart.
Some new faces will see playing time like sophomore linebacker Neiron Ball and fellow linebackers Mike Taylor and Antonio Morrison, a true freshman. Ball did not play last year because of injury. Quinn also said true freshmen Dante Fowler and Jonathan Bullard could see playing time as well as could junior college transfer defensive lineman Damien Jacobs.
Quinn did not say who the starting cornerbacks will be as four players continue to battle to see who will start but Gator coach Will Muschamp has said in the past that the Gators use the nickel package a lot and that more than two corners might play at one time.
