University of Florida head football coach Will Muschamp introduced the newest member of his staff in special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach Jeff Choate.
Choate joined Muschamp’s staff a week ago; he had been serving as Texas El Paso’s defensive coordinator. Before that he was under Mike Leach at Washignton State as linebackers coach. Choate was also at Boise State where he served as special teams coordinator and his unit was ranked in the top 25 nationally several times.
Muschamp met Choate during his time at Texas. Choate said he decided to come to Florida because it would offer him a unique opportunity.
Choate used his first press conference to talk about his style as a special team coordinator and how he plans to bring change to the program.
Muschamp also used the conference to announce offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker has decided to transfer.
Dunker did not play in a game in his time with Florida.
A two deep roster was released after spring practice as well. Dante Fowler Jr. is listed as the starter at the Buck position while Ronald Powell, battling back from injury, is the starter at the Sam linebacker spot, with Antonio Morrison at Mike linebacker and Darrin Kitchens or Michael Taylor at the Will linebacker.
Marcus Maye is listed as a starter at safety along with veteran Jabari Gorman while the other safety spot is occupied by Jaylen Watkins.
