Alabama Blasts Florida 42-21; Hand UF First Loss Of Year

September 20, 2014

The Alabama Crimson Tide rolled up over 600 yards of total offense Saturday on its way to a 42-21 win over Florida.   The Tide is now 4-0 on the year while Florida falls to 2-1.

Both teams committed a number of turnovers in the first half that led to scores by both teams.   In fact, Florida led the game at one time 14-7 after the Gators ran back a fumble for a touchdown.   But Alabama got two touchdown passes from quarterback Blake Sims to take a 21-14 halftime lead and then dominated the game the rest of the way.

Sims was terrific as he went 23 of 33 for 445 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.  Florida’s offense meanwhile was stagnant most the day, amassing just 200 yards of total offense.

Florida has a bye next week before playing at Tennessee in two weeks.
