Florida gymnastics will hit the road Friday as they travel to face eighth ranked Arkansas.
The Gators put up their season high 197.60 total last week against the Georgia Bulldogs. Senior Kytra Hunter scored a 39.675 in the All-Around, the nation’s second-highest total of 2015 so far and her fourth consecutive All-Around victory. Both Hunter and Kennedy Baker took home SEC honors this week following the meet.
Arkansas is coming off a third place finish at the 2015 Metropolex Challenge last Saturday. Number one Oklahoma took home the first place prize followed by LSU. Friday’s meet will be the second home meet of the season for Arkansas. In last year’s Florida-Arkansas match up, the Gators defeated the Razorbacks, a meet in which a 10.0 on vault was scored by Kytra Hunter.
The Gators are looking to improve their travel record after they dropped their last away meet to Alabama. Gator coach Rhonda Faehn says her team is working on their mental toughness in preparation for Friday’s meet.
“We have to generate and create our own energy and not get caught up and distracted in things that we really can’t control,.” Faehn said.
The meet will air live on the SEC Network Plus on Friday with a later showing on the SEC Network.
