Kentucky survives an SEC scare, a former Gator is on an NFL staff, and two Gator teams playing the same opponent and more in our Wednesday Sports Update…

** The top ranked Kentucky men’s basketball team survives an upset bid at LSU last night to remain unbeaten.   Kentucky beats LSU 71-69.  Elsewhere, Alabama tops Mississippi State 55-51; South Carolina beats Missouri 65-60 and Arkansas pounds Auburn 101-87.  More games on tap in SEC play tonight.

** Both the Florida softball and lacrosse teams play at Jacksonville today.   Florida softball is 5-0 while lacrosse is 0-1.

** New Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn has added former Gator Marquand Manuel to his coaching staff, naming him secondary coach.

** In high school girl’s regional basketball play, PK Yonge and Chiefland advance while Eastside, Hawthorne and Williston lose.

** Former UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian’s health is not good; his son says his condition is critical and “minute by minute” this morning as he fights a respiratory infection.  Tarkanian is 84.
