Game 5: Golden State Vs. Cavaliers

June 13, 2016

The Golden State Warriors are just one win away from their second consecutive NBA Championship title. The Warriors head into Game 5 with a 3-1 series lead after defeating the Cavaliers on Friday. If the Cavs are able to grab the win tonight, the teams will head into Game 6 in Cleveland.

The Warriors will be down a player after a flagrant 1 foul in Game 4 was called on Draymond Green when he struck Lebron James in the groin area during to the Warriors victory on Friday night. This isn’t Green’s first offense and his consistent behavior issues made the decision for him to be suspended in Game 4 easier for the NBA. Green will be missed in this game as he has been a big part of their championship runs of late, so the Warriors will have to fill his shoes in this game.

Stephen Curry says the team has a deep line up and he’s confident they can still win without Green.

Winning in Game 3 120-90, the Cavaliers have got to get back to that form and winning mentality to stand a chance in Game 5. James and Kyrie Irving led the team to its only win thus far in the five game series and James called Game 3 a “do or die” game and the Cavaliers did the work. In Game 4 the team fell to low momentum in the second half so it’s safe to say Game 5 is another all or nothing competition.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says the chance to close out the series is enough motivation for his team to go out and win.

Tip off is set for 9 p.m. at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
