High School Football: Buchholz Opens Season with Blowout Win

August 27, 2016

Gainesville area schools kicked off the start of high school football with a big rivalry Friday evening. The Eastside Rams hosted the Buchholz Bobcats at Citizen’s field for their season opener, losing 51-0.

Although both teams came out ready to play the Bobcats took the lead early in the first quarter after senior running back Khauriee Sullivan scored on a 41-yard touchdown. The momentum did not stop there. Soon after, Buchholz running back Torrey Richardson ran the ball into the end zone giving the Bobcats a 13-0 lead after a missed extra point. Right before the end of the first half Buchholz’s Chris Rumph II blocked an Eastside punt giving Adam Kinney the opportunity to recover the ball and score yet another touchdown.

By halftime, the bobcats led the Rams 41-0.

Next Friday Buchholz will head to Inverness to take on Citrus High School while Eastside will host Newberry.
