Gator Linebacker Jarrad Davis Suffers Bad Ankle Sprain

Gator linebacker Jarrad Davis has officially received a diagnosis for an injury that caused him to hobble off the field on Saturday. The Florida Gators released information that Davis is suffering from a “badly sprained ankle and there is no timetable for his return.” Davis is leading the Gators with 48 tackles and had eight in the  game against Missouri before having to leave the game.

The senior linebacker’s injury had a big impact on his teammates. Davis is known as a team leader and a play caller on the field. He adjusts the call on the field in real time, and is accredited to much of the success from the defensive side of the ball.

But for the Gator defense, it’s next man up.

Filling in for Davis was true freshman David Reese. He made six tackles and left a lasting impression on head coach Jim McElwain. McElwain says Reese came into the game ready to play. McElwain also noticed that Reese came in with high energy and contributed with some good tackles for the Gators.  The Gators beat Missouri 40-14.

On the bright side, the Gators are going into a bye week, giving guys who are injured an extra week to recover. The Gators will play again on Oct. 29th against Georgia in Jacksonville.
