The No. 3 ranked Florida Gators women’s golf team is at Sugar Grove, Illinois, to participate in the NCAA National Championships.
The Gators hope to improve on their performance from last year’s tournament, in which they finished in 17th place at 22-over.
Florida will not be the only SEC team participating in the tournament. The Alabama Crimson Tide and the South Carolina Gamecocks will also be representing the conference.

Kelly Grassel, Maria Torres and Karolina Vlckova, senior Gators, will be three of the five players in this weekend’s lineup. They will have the opportunity to finish their college careers at the highest level.
Grassel is coming into this tournament after a great individual regular season. She averaged 71.53 strokes. Grassel also had seven top 10 finishes and 10 top 25 finishes on the season.
Thankfully for the Gators, Grassel knows how to perform at a high level on the big stage. She tied for 20th with a final score of one-over (289) in last year’s NCAA tournament.
Freshman Marta Perez was originally slated to play in the tournament but has been replaced by sophomore Sam Wagner. Perez was a last minute removal due to an undisclosed illness. Wagner averaged 72.12 strokes per match during the regular season and recorded three top 10 finishes.
