College Hoops Conference Tournaments Start Today

Sun Belt

In college hoops, Arkansas State (12-19) is set to host Coastal Carolina (11-19) in the first round of the Sun Belt conference tournament.

The Red Wolves won the only matchup between the two teams back on Feb. 4, 73-57.

In that meeting, junior guard Caleb Fields led Arkansas State with 19 points and three assists. The Red Wolves had four players reach double figures, while the Chanticleers had just two.

Arkansas State is looking to keep their momentum going, while Coastal Carolina is looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Following that game, the Georgia State Panthers (10-20) will face the Texas State Bobcats (13-18).

These two teams have not faced off this season. Both teams are coming into the game looking to snap losing streaks.

The Panthers are currently on a seven-game losing streak, while the Bobcats are on a two-game skid. .

Tipoff is set for 8:30 from the Pensacola Bay Center.

Patriot League

In the Patriot League, the Bucknell Bison (12-19) are set to take on the American Eagles (15-14).

These two college teams are very familiar with each other, having played twice already this month. Both games saw the Bison winning. On Feb. 1, Bucknell won 78-71, and on Feb. 13, they routed the Eagles 73-51.

The Bison are looking to put together back-to-back wins, while the Eagles are aiming to get back in the win column after losing their last six conference games.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Holy Cross Crusaders (10-21) travel to play the Loyola Greyhounds (12-19) at 7 p.m.

These two teams have split their season series, with Holy Cross winning the first matchup 63-55 on Jan. 8 and Loyola dominating the Crusaders 90-68 on Feb. 28.

The Greyhounds now look to continue their two-game win streak, while Holy Cross tries to snap a three-game skid.

Horizon League

The Fort Wayne Mastodons (17-14) host the Detroit Mercy Titans (13-18) in the first round of the Horizon League.

The Titans have swept the season series against the Mastodons, winning 75-66 Dec. 1 and 85-52 Feb. 4.

Detroit’s been led by guard Antoine Davis who scored 22 and 32 points, respectively, in the two matchups. The guard is just 63 points shy of breaking the NCAA all-time scoring record set in 1970 by Pete Maravich.

The Titans look to snap a two-game losing streak, while Purdue looks to add on to their one-game win streak.

Game tips off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

Other games tipping off tonight include Green Bay vs. Wright State and IUPUI vs. Robert Morris.

Atlantic Sun

In the Atlantic Sun Conference Quarterfinal, Lipscomb Bison (19-12) faces the Stetson Hatters (17-12).

The two teams have split the season series, with Stetson winning game one 86-80 on Dec. 30 and Lipscomb rebounding to win game two 98-91 Friday.

The Hatters are looking to get back in the win column, while the Bison are looking to add onto their current three-game win streak.
