Munich Dominate Early
The game began though with Borussia Dortmund controlling the first 10 minutes. They dominated possession and were a threat offensively. In the seventh minute, right-back Marius Wolf played a fantastic through ball to Marco Reus. The captain controlled the ball and shot it right into the sliding foot of Bayern’s Matthijs De Ligt. This was their best chance all half.
Momentum immediately shifted toward Munich’s favor after a howler from Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. The keeper came out of his box to clear the through ball sent from Dayot Upamecano. Kobel completely missed it which resulted in the ball rolling into the back of the net.

Thomas Muller had another excellent game Saturday scoring two goals. The first came from a corner kick in the 18′ minute. Joshua Kimmich sent in a corner right to the head of De Ligt. The Dutchman nodded it down to the open Muller who placed it in from 3 yards out. The German’s second goal came five minutes later. After a poor save from Kobel, Muller was able to tap it in uncontestedly from inside the six-yard box.
Second Half Starts Fast for Bayern
Five minutes into the second half, Kingsley Coman was able to make it 4-0. Leroy Sane was able to find the Frenchman after dribbling across the Dortmund defense untouched. He sent a pass through the legs of Muller to the back post. Roman ran onto the ball and finished it in the near post.

Dortmund were able to get two goals back late in the game. Jude Bellingham was fouled in the box by Serge Gnabry in the 72′ minute. Emre Can stepped up and scored the penalty. Substitute Donyell Malen did a great one-two play with Raphaël Guerreiro for the second goal in the 90′ minute. The forward didn’t hit the ball with too much power but placed it in with perfection to the right side of the net.
