A Look at Florida Gators Men’s Tennis at Penn State

October 1, 2025

The Florida men’s tennis team continues fall play this weekend at the Holmes Cathrall Memorial Invitational hosted by Penn State. The three-game series takes place Oct. 3-5 at the Sarni Tennis Center, with Buffalo, Columbia, Cornell and Navy also competing.

The Gators arrive at the match having built experience through earlier fall tournaments. Florida returned earlier this week from the 2025 ITA All-American Championships, the men’s tournament being held in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Sept. 20-28. Florida sent five Gators to the tournament: senior Tanapatt Nirundorn, juniors Kevin Edengen, Jeremy Jin, Henry Jefferson and freshman Andreas Timini.

Florida’s No. 33 doubles team of Jefferson and Nirundorn reached the semifinals before falling to No. 1 Mississippi State’s Benito Sanches Martinez and Peter Jovanovic. In singles, Jefferson and No. 45 Jin lost their opening matches to move into the consolation bracket, where Jefferson dropped his first match and Jin advanced to the third round.

The Gators also sent two players to compete in the 2025 Bedford Cup in Tallahassee Florida. Edengren and Francesco Cordova played in the singles part of the tournament as well as competed together as doubles partners.

Cordova retired early in consolation play while Edengren ended on top of the consolation bracket. However, due to Cordova’s retirement, their doubles run ended prematurely despite an opening win over FGCU’s Christopher Smith and Stefan Correa.

Competing for Penn State are returning sophomores Reiya Hattori and David Lindsay as well as five new members making their Penn State debuts.

Playing at home, Penn State will look to rely on familiar conditions at the Sarni Tennis Center as this tournament is their first competitive action in the fall season. This will be its first time hosting a fall tournament in 17 years, along with their first match of the fall season.

Instead, the Gators are looking to turn their fall experience into strength to win.
