Oak Hall Volleyball Sweeps P.K. Yonge in Straight Sets
Oak Hall defeated P.K. Yonge in straight sets Tuesday night to claim a 3-0 road victory in a Class 2A-District 1 volleyball match between the Gainesville schools.
The Eagles (10-10) overpowered the Blue Wave (3-9), 25-18, 25-9, 25-9. The win improves Oak Hall’s district record to 2-1, while P.K. Yonge dropped to 0-2.
Oak Hall controlled the match from the opening serve by using a balanced attack and steady serving to limit P.K. Yonge’s scoring chances. The Eagles were in top form, especially in the second and third sets, where they held the Blue Wave to single-digit scoring.
The Blue Wave, still searching for their first home win of the season, struggled to find rhythm, falling to 0-3 at home and 1-4 in neutral-site games. They have now lost three straight matches.
Oak Hall, ranked No. 301 in Florida, improved to 5-1 at home and 3-5 on the road, with a .500 overall winning percentage. P.K. Yonge, ranked No. 524 in the state, continues to face challenges with a .250 win rate.
The Eagles are scheduled to continue district play next week as the regular season nears its conclusion. But first, Oak Hall hosts The Rock (17-6) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. P.K. Yonge is done with regular-season district play. It will host Eastside (3-16) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
