Report: Florida Football’s Fall Camp Dates Released
Florida football has reportedly finalized its schedule for fall training camp as the 2026 season sneaks up on first-year head coach Jon Sumrall. The Gators will have their first practice on Aug. 5, according to Gators Online, followed by two scrimmages on Aug. 15 and Aug. 22.
Sumrall will meet with the media the day before camp begins on Aug. 4, when he’s expected to provide insight into the team’s offseason work, position competitions and expectations going into the fall.
Fall camp marks the first under Sumrall. Over the next several weeks, Florida’s coaching staff will evaluate one of the nation’s most highly regarded rosters while working to establish Florida’s new identity.
Within that identity lies the quarterback battle between Tramell Jones Jr. and Aaron Philo. Philo followed offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner from Georgia Tech, giving him prior familiarity with the system. While no starter has been named, the next several weeks of camp and preseason scrimmages will provide a clearer indication of who will earn the job in September.
In preparation for camp, the Gators have trained under Director of Football Performance Rusty Whitt, whose offseason program, “The Gauntlet,” has focused on building a grit that will resonate with the players through the season. The strictly-timed, six-station drill is inspired by Whitt’s military background and designed to simulate the physical and mental stress of a football drive. The Gators incurred 45 mistakes and took almost 30 days to pass.
The Gators are expected to conclude fall camp the following week before turning their full attention to the season opener against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5.
