Two Florida Soccer Freshmen Land in TopDrawerSoccer Top 100

October 23, 2026

Two Florida soccer freshmen landed on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Top 100 Freshmen rankings this week. Defender Lael Hill came in just outside the top 30 at No. 31, and midfielder Mia Gray was No. 37.

Both have turned in notable performances this season, each logging more than 1,000 minutes.

Hill has started 11 times since the Florida State match. She scored in the Gators’ 5-2 win over Texas A&M, heading in a cross from Addy Hess in the 13th minute for her first goal at Florida. She also has an assist, which set up Lena Bailey’s late game-winner against Alabama. Hill was ranked No. 194 in TopDrawerSoccer.com’s 2026 signing class rankings.

Gray has yet to score, but she has been a key part of coach Nick Zimmerman’s lineup from the season opener, starting every match except Sunday’s at Arkansas. She has three assists and three shots on goal, and she was ranked No. 182 in the 2026 signing class.

Hill and Gray are part of a freshman group that has logged significant minutes for Florida. Midfielders Courtney Hogan and Iori Watanabe and defender Carlota Martins are among those who have made a big impact in their first seasons.

“I think it’s a testament to their level of experience already,” Zimmerman said Oct. 8 after the upset win over Alabama. “[It’s] incredibly encouraging.”
