Gator Soccer Defeats Jacksonville 4-0
Behind four first-half goals the 10th ranked Florida Gator soccer team defeated Jacksonville on Sunday 4-0. Florida improves to 5-2 (0-1 SEC) after dropping their last match to Texas A&M on Friday.
The Gators scored their first goal the fastest they have all season when Meggie Doughtery Howard put one in the near post at 2:11. Florida would score its second goal two minutes later when Savannah Jordan netted her seventh goal of the season. She leads UF with 15 points this season.
The Gators would add two more goals from Brooke Sharp and Pamela Begic to pull away in this game in just the first half. Neither team would score in the second half. The Gators are 5-0 all time against Jacksonville after today’s win.
Freshman Kaylan Marckese got her first career start in goal and provided a clean sheet for the Gators. It was Florida’s second shutout of the season and first since their 2-0 season opening win over then 17th ranked UCF.
Up next for the Orange and Blue is a home SEC match against Ole Miss. Match time is set for 7p.m. from James G Pressly Stadium.
