Gator Soccer Host Wildcats

October 2, 2015

The 12th ranked Florida Gator soccer team returns home after a three game road stretch as they welcome the Kentucky Wildcats to James G Pressly Stadium Friday night. The Gators went 2-1 on their road stretch with wins over FIU and Vandy, and a loss to Auburn. Florida is 8-3 this season and 2-2 in the SEC. UF is currently tied for fifth in the conference, while Kentucky is tied for second with a 3-1 record in the SEC. The Gators last match was a heartbreaking loss to Auburn where the Tigers scored the winning goal with 25 seconds in regulation time. These two teams faced each other last season in Lexington where the Wildcats took down the Gators 2-0. They scored a goal in each half and gave Florida one of their two shutouts all season. UF currently leads the all time series 19-3-2. Kentucky is coming off of a 2-1 win over Arkansas last Sunday, but are still just outside the Top 25 despite receiving some votes in the poll. The Wildcats are 8-2-1 on the year and Kentucky is also the sixth

opponent the Gators have faced this season that advanced to NCAA play last year. Kentucky does not have a dynamic goal scorer like Florida has in Savannah Jordan as junior Zoe Swift leads the team in goals with four. Jordan has 12 goals on the year. You can catch coverage of the game on ESPN Gainesville 95.3/850 starting at 6:50 pm.
