Hello! I am David Lopez, a student at the University of Florida. I am in my senior year of studying Journalism with a specialization in Sports and Media. I hope to pursue a diverse set of media fields professionally, knowing I can succeed in play-by-play or color commentary, social media content creation, beat/feature writing, or TV anchoring. However, my ultimate dream, is to be calling play-by-play every Saturday night in the fall for the biggest college football games in the country. I worked as a sports writer and editor for four years on my high school's newspaper, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Eagle Eye. I have now worked with ESPN WRUF for four years as well as a beat writer for Florida Gators soccer and basketball as well as local high school football. Other organizations I have worked with include: -Orange and Blue Sports Network (play-by-play and color commentary for Gators soccer) -Varsity Sports Show (Gainesville Field Correspondent and live radio host) -WUFT (Sports Anchoring) -CheckMyStats Podcast (Creator: TikTok and Youtube sports-based content creation) As my major and experience might indicate, I am obsessed with sports. Baseball, soccer, basketball, table tennis, whatever sport it is, I am hooked. Whether I am calling play-by-play for a soccer match, sitting with friends watching NFL football, or at a park playing pickup basketball, sports occupies nearly 100% of my day.
