Miami Dolphins face the Detroit Lions

The Miami Dolphins head up to Detroit on Sunday to face off against the Lions. Kickoff is set for 1 pm at Ford Field.

Detroit Lions need a win

The Lions are currently 1-5 in the season as they go into week eight and sit at the bottom of the standings for the NFC North. 

At the start of the season, their offense played up to the level of their opponents, but the defense did not. However, up until Detroit played the Patriots, quarterback Jared Goff and his offense kept the score close. In the first games, the score gap was less than a touchdown. 

Goff totals 11 touchdowns, 1,583 passing yards and a 62.3 completion average. 

Now looking at the defense, they have not had a great season allowing a 102.4 pass rating and 8 yards per attempt. 

To stop the Dolphins, they need to put a stop right at the source. Aidan Hutchinson leads the team with 4.5 sacks under his belt, 1.5 of them coming from their game against Dallas. He also tacked on three QB hits that game.

Miami Dolphins getting back into the groove

Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins are coming off a tough win against the Steelers. It was Tagovailoa’s first game and he threw 21 for 35 attempts. Throughout the game, he nearly through some interceptions, but luckily none were caught by Pittsburgh. 

Looking back that Miami’s 4-3 record, the three games they lost are the ones Tagovailoa got hurt in and could not play.

His right-hand man, Tryeek Hill, leads the team with 773 receiving yards, however, in the Steelers game, Jaylen Waddle beat him out for 88 receiving yards compared to his 72. Raheem Mostert also helps out the Dolphins with his 388 rushing yards. 

Compared to Sunday’s opponent, the Dolphins defense looks better giving up a 98.9 rating and allowing other quarterbacks to complete 68.7% of their passes. 

What this win means

If Miami won, this would keep them in the wild card hunt. While a win for Detroit would be a confidence booster after a bad couple of weeks.
