Gators Prepare for UMass; Callaway Cleared

Head Coach Jim McElwain gave his weekly press conference earlier today ahead of Saturday’s game against the University of Massachusetts and the big news is Callaway is good to go.

Sophomore Antonio Callaway will return to the Swamp after an offseason full of controversy. He was suspended indefinitely from the team while being investigated for sexual misconduct. Number 81 will suit up once again to help a receiving core that desperately needs it.

The Gators are missing many wide receivers ahead of Saturday night. Freshmen Rick Wells and Tyrie Cleveland are suspended after their BB gun incident. CJ Worton is ailing an injury with a questionable status being placed on his availability.

Freshman Freddie Swain, senior Ahmad Fulwood, and now Antonio Callaway will be getting plenty of looks from quarterback Luke Del Rio.

Coach McElwain doesn’t expect smooth sailing from the new Florida quarterback ahead of his first start.

Another question mark surrounding the Florida’s offense is who is starting as running back for the Gators. Coach McElwain says it’s not important, all of them will play.

After struggling at the end of the season against Florida Atlantic, then losing three in a row to Florida State, Alabama, and Michigan. The new season for the Florida Gators begins Saturday night at 7 p.m.
