Macy Meis
My name is Macy Meis, and I’m a sophomore at the University of Florida majoring in Journalism: Sports and Media with minors in Public Relations and Event Management. I’m passionate about storytelling and bringing energy to live sports, and my ultimate dream is to work in sports broadcasting.
On campus, I stay pretty busy. I’m involved in Student Government, Homecoming and Gator Growl, Kappa Delta, and I am proud to be involved in the Innovation News Center’s First at Five live show. In this show, I take on several roles, such as sports talent, a sports writer, a sports reporter, a and video editor. I also work as a photographer for UF RecSports, as well as some freelance work, and teach dance at Independance Studio here in Gainesville.
I grew up a huge Gator fan—both of my parents went to UF—so being part of this community means a lot to me. Outside of journalism, I have spent years as a competitive dancer and cheerleader, and I love anything that combines creativity and sports.
In the future, I hope to bring my creativity and personality to the world of sports media, telling the stories that make sports so much more than just a game.
