Tampa Bay Rays take on the Cincinnati Reds

The Tampa Bay Rays are slated to begin their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds tonight at 6:40 p.m. Both tonight’s and Tuesday’s games against the Reds will start at 6:40 p.m., while the third and final game of the series will be happening Wednesday at 12:35 p.m.

Rays vs Reds History

The last time the Rays and Reds faced off was in July when the Rays lost. Last year’s Rays-Reds matchup resulted in a series sweep by the Reds.

The Rays and Reds’ first game against each other dates back 20 years ago to 2003 when the Tampa Bay Rays were still considered the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Over the years, the Rays and the Reds have only played in six series together, which in total is 18 games. The Reds have won the majority of the match-ups, winning all but two series against the Rays. The Rays have won five out of the 18 games played, including two series wins; one in 2014 and the other in 2017.

Starting off Strong

Although this season of the MLB only started a few weeks ago, the Tampa Bay Rays have already gone on quite the winning streak. Their weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays marked the first series loss of the season for the Rays. Before the Rays and Jays game, the Rays were 13-0.

The Rays are currently the top-ranked team in the American League East with 14 wins and 2 losses. So far this season, the Rays are the only team that has so few losses. Every team in the American League and the National League has suffered six or more losses. In the AL East, behind the Rays, are the Yankees who are 10-6.

Rays vs Jays

The Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays competed in a three-game series over the weekend. Although this was the Rays first game loss and first series loss of the season, they managed to make it back on top and win the final game of the series.

After losing 6-3 in the first game and 5-2 in the second game, the Rays showed no mercy towards the Jays in the final game, as the Rays won 8-1.
