The Miami Marlins Start Their Season with a 3-3 record

The Miami Marlins have played their first six games of the season on the road and have brought back 3 wins. They will be taking a 3-3 record into their home opener on Tuesday.

Their past 3 games have been against the New York Mets, where they took the first two games of the series. On Sunday night, their third game of the series with the Mets aired on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. The Marlins faltered in the spotlight and fell short to the Mets, 5-2, which prevented them from getting that 3-game sweep. Marlins manager, Don Mattingly  states how it is important for the team to keep playing good baseball to get the best 2 out of 3 wins all the time. Here is what he says about missing out on a 3-game sweep.

Game Recap

In Sunday night’s game, Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard hindered the Marlins all game. Over seven innings, the Marlins only scored two runs and Syndergaard struck out nine hitters and didn’t walk a batter.

In the first inning, the Mets scored three runs, creating momentum for the game right from the beginning. The extent of action for the Marlins came only in the third inning, where they scored their two runs off of Dee Gordon’s double. After that, the Marlins couldn’t make anything else happen off of Syndergaard’s pitches. The Mets scored another run in the fifth inning, and another in the sixth.

Coming Up for the Marlins

Tuesday evening the Marlins will host the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 to open up their home field for the season. They will host six games back-to-back at home, the first two against the Braves and the last four against the Mets. After the chilly series they played at the Mets’ home field, they will be returning to play in the warm Miami weather that they are used to.
