NFL Minicamps Open With Prominent No-Shows

Some NFL minicamps are taking place over the next few days and there are already some prominent no-shows.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, already dealing with wide receiver Justin Blackmon’s DUI arrest, now don’t have star running back Maurice Jones-Drew in camp.   He wants a new contract but the Jags say they have no intention of giving him a new deal; he has two years remaining on his present contract.

The Chicago Bears don’t have star running back Matt Forte for the same reason; he wants a new contract.   He has had the franchise tag placed on him by Chicago but he has yet to sign that contract.

And the New York Jets say former Gator quarterback Tim Tebow will only receive second team snaps during their minicamp.   Mark Sanchez will run the first string offense all the way through camp.
