** Former Gator Lauren Haeger is named the SEC Female Athlete of the Year. The Gator softball star recently completed her senior season, helping the Gators win a national title. She is also up for an award at the ESPY’s in a few days.
** Former Gator and former NFL defensive lineman Ray McDonald has been charged with domestic violence and false imprisonment in connection with an allegation he assaulted his girlfriend while she was holding a child. Additional charges could also be pending.
** A sad NFL note today as former NFL quarterback Kenny Stabler dies at 69 from complications from colon cancer.
** Wimbledon’s female singles final will have Serena Williams facing long shot Gurbine Mururuza. The men’s semifinals take place today.
** Former Gator baseball player Cole Figueroa has been called up the big leagues by the New York Yankees.
** In MLB action, Kansas City completes a four game sweep of Tampa Bay with an 8-3 win Thursday. The Rays have a series this weekend at home against Houston. Atlanta will be at Colorado and Miami faces Cincinnati after winning 2-0 yesterday against the Reds.
**In the NBA, LeBron James signs a new two year deal to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
