**Former Gators Jabar Gaffney and Gerard Warren were cut by the New England Patriots as teams had to get their rosters down to 75 players.   Quarterback Vince Young was released as was fellow veteran quarterback Luke McCown.

** The U.S. Open tennis championship continues in New York today.

**Former Gator Aaron Hernandez has agreed to a new five year contract extension with the New England Patriots.   The contract is worth a reported $40 million.

** Wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers is officially no longer a Tennessee Volunteer; he will now play for Tennessee Tech after being dismissed from the Tennessee team a few days ago.
