More Gator Baseball Signees, Current Players Taken Day Two Of MLB Draft

After the Gator baseball team saw two current players and three signees taken in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft yesterday, several more players have been taken today.

Shortstop Nolan Fontana was the first player taken in the second round, selected by Houston.   Also drafted in the second round was reliever Steven Rodriguez by the Los Angeles Dodgers.   Outfielder Max White from Williston High School was taken in the second round by the Colorado Rockies; White is a Florida commitment.

In the third round, two more Gator commitments went off the board as pitcher Jonathan Sandfort was selected by Pittsburgh and shortstop Avery Romero was taken by Milwaukee.  And reliever Austin Maddox was taken in the same round by the Boston Red Sox, who also selected another two way Gator in Brian Johnson in the first round.

Outfielder Preston Tucker was the first pick in the seventh round by Houston and soon after pitcher Hudson Randall was scooped up by Detroit.   Outfielder Daniel Pigott was selected in the ninth round by Cincinnati.

The MLB Draft concludes today.
