A three run eighth inning helped the Boston Red Sox beat the Florida Marlins 6-5 Thursday to complete a three game series sweep.

In other MLB action, Washington downs Tampa Bay 5-2 as suspended Rays reliever Joel Peralta gave up a tie breaking hit in the sixth inning.   Peralta was suspended eight games by MLB after pine tar was found on his glove a few games ago; he is appealing the suspension and is allowed to play until a final decision is made on the suspension length.

In other games, Oakland downs the LA Dodgers 4-1; Pittsburgh trounces Minnesota 9-1; Detroit nips St. Louis 2-1; and in the National League Colorado downs Philadelphia 4-1.
