The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Missouri Tigers are set to compete for the SEC football championship this Saturday in the Georgia Dome. The number one Crimson Tide is 11-1 with a loss to Ole Miss while the Tigers are 10-2.
The SEC is assured of a playoff spot only if the Crimson Tide pulls off a win on Saturday. The Tigers have to prepare for Alabama’s balanced offense and the impact wide receiver Amari Cooper makes for the Tide. Cooper currently is one of the main candidates to win the Heisman with 103 catches for 1573 yards and 14 touchdowns this season.
Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban talks about the magnitude of this championship game.
“I know you’re all going to ask me about the magnitude of the game and I think everyone understands the consequences of the game one way or the other. I have been getting asked that question ever since we started playing SEC games. Every game we played all year is the same question, so I have the same answer. Its the most important game because it’s the next game.”
Missouri comes in to the game as a heavy underdog but the Tigers do nothing but win, having won back to back SEC East titles. Quarterback Maty Mauk has not been consistent but the Tiger defense causes turnovers and has two excellent defensive ends that can pressure the quarterback and do well in the running game.
Kickoff is set for 4:00 Saturday on CBS.
