In a stunning move, the Detroit Tigers have apparently come to contract terms with free agent first baseman Prince Fielder.
The contract is reportedly a nine year deal worth 214 million dollars.
The Tigers made the move in part because of the injury to Victor Martinez who hurt his knee and is probably out for the season. With Fielder, who started his career with the Milwaukee Brewers, the team picks up a huge bat and a very durable player as well.
In other news, Cy Young Award winning pitcher Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to a two year deal worth just over 40 million dollars.
And New York Yankees great Jorge Posada has announced his retirement after 17 seasons, all with the Yankees.
