** The Gator men’s golf team is tied for eighth going into today’s final round of the NCAA Championships being held in California. Alabama leads the event as Florida trails the Tide by 12 shots.
** The College World Series begins today for softball as eight teams try for a national championship, three of them from the SEC. Alabama, Tennessee and LSU are representing the SEC and South Florida and Oklahoma open the World Series this afternoon.
** The Los Angeles Kings beat the New Jersey Devils 2-1 in overtime in New Jersey last night to take a 1-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals.
** The SEC meetings continue in Destin, Florida with a number of topics being discussed, including coming up with a permanent schedule that will include new members Missouri and Texas A&M; no schedule format has been approved as of yet. And South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier has again proposed the idea of paying players some sort of stipend.
