Before a loud home crowd, the Baltimore Orioles began their biggest home series in years with success as they beat the New York Yankees 10-6 on Thursday. The win moves the O’s into a first place tie with New York in the American League East as they play three more games this weekend.
The Orioles also have a one game wild card lead over the Oakland A’s who begin a series today against Seattle on the road. Tampa Bay trails in the AL East by two games and in te wild card by two and they will host Texas this weekend. The Rangers beat Kansas City 5-4 Thursday.
In the National League, Atlanta gets its second straight 1-0 win over Colorado to increase its wild card lead over St.Louis to three and a half games. The Braves start a weekend series in New York against the Mets while the Cardinals will host Milwaukee.
Miami beat Milwaukee 6-2 Thursday and Washington rips the Chicago Cubs 9-2.
