Florida downs Pacific 89-82 In Womens Hoops

The Florida women’s basketball team is now 7-3 on the year after defeating previously unbeaten Pacific 89-82 on Friday, led by an impressive performance from their reserves.

Freshman Sydney Moss scored 11 first half points and had the bulk of Florida’s 13 first half bench points.

The Gators also shot 64% from the field in the opening 20 minutes, and Gator head coach Amanda Butler attributed the high percentage to easy shots.

In the second half sophomore Kayla Lewis took over bench scoring pitching in 13 of her 15 total points in the second stanza, as the Gators ended the game outscoring Pacific 34-6 in bench points.

Florida’s Jaterra Bonds led all scorers with 20 points, and Butler was impressed with her performance.

The most signifigant points of the night however came off of a foul shot by senior Jennifer George; with her free throw late in the game George became the 21st Gator to score 1,000 points.

The Gators next play Dec. 16th at LaSalle.
