The NBA Draft tonight, MLB results, a winner in the College World Series and more in our Thursday Sports Update…
** The annual NBA Draft takes place tonight. The Minnesota Timberwolves have the top pick, followed by the LA Lakers, Philadelphia, New York and Orlando. Former Gators Michael Frazier II and Chris Walker hope to hear their names called; most believe the second round is the highest round they could be picked.
** Reports say Cleveland forward Kevin Love has opted out of his contract and will become a free agent. The Cavs could lose LeBron James and guard JR Smith the same way but most expect James to re-sign with the team.
** Virginia wins the College World Series after beating Vanderbilt 4-2 last night in Omaha. Vandy was trying to win back to back national titles but could not hold an early 2-0 lead.
** In MLB action, Toronto nips Tampa Bay 1-0; St.Louis downs Miami 6-1 and Washington edges Atlanta 2-1. The Rays are off today, while the other two match ups end their series with games tonight.
** In women’s World Cup soccer play, the U.S. will face China tomorrow.
