The Florida Gator Lacrosse team beat the Michigan Wolverines in a nail-bitter with a final score of 12-11 on Saturday in Gainesville. The game was incredibly exciting and aggressive, the two teams hustled the entire game and it was close all the way. It was a tie game 11-11 with a minute left in the game when Shayna Pirreca passed to Sammi Burgess for the go-ahead goal and the win over the Wolverines.
Along with the winning assist, Pirreca led the team with four goals while Burgess was right behind her with three goals. Mollie Stevens as well had three goals after her career high five goals in the win over Loyola last week. Nicole Graziano and Taylor Bresnahan each had one goal. It was a great team effort by the Gators with the scoring very spread out throughout the entire game.
A total of 818 fans watched the Gators slide past the Wolverines for a win on a sunny afternoon at the Donald R. Dizney Lacrosse Stadium. Fans can look forward to Florida’s next game this Thursday when it takes on the Wales National Team at four o’clock.
